How to Walk and Work in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Part III

How to Walk and Work in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Part III

We finished up in part II coming into the understanding of our worth to the Almighty. How he views us and how we should view ourselves.

Let us discuss then how we are to come about this view and what it is as Christians and servants of the Living God we can do. All things from the Holy Spirit will always align with scripture and will be made clear by the Holy Spirit, so I ask that the Holy Spirit clear the way for our continuing journey into this magnificent way of life we seek. Amen.

How do we co-operate with the Holy Spirit?

(Rom 12:2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

(Jos 1:9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

We must not conform to the views that the world tries to push on the church today. We as individuals must test everything with the mindset of God, I am not saying that we can understand or fully comprehend what Gods mind is and what his perfect thought is. But we certainly have the perfect Guide in the Spirit inspired word of God that is given to us as a road map. Also the world would have us all live in fear. How many times a day do we hear the doom and gloom of the anxieties of this present time and place? We as Gods people must hold strong to the fact that when Jesus set us free from captivity, it was eternal and that means right now as much as our future in the Kingdom of God, when Jesus returns.
So therefore we have to remember constantly that "If our God is for us who can be against us". Praise His Holy Name...Glory.

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

What are some of the Hindrances that can distract us from our Walk and our Work?

We often get caught up in ourselves and can't find time for this that and the other and unfortunately it is often our walk with God that is put on the back burner, just for a little while. Then before we know it has been a couple of days since we last spent time with Him. The enemy uses this to bring condemnation against us, and then our mind runs off in all sorts of terrible thoughts of what God thinks of us. We can often be the best weapon to derail our own walk with self condemnation. But always remember that we have an advocate that takes our repentance straight to the Father.
Condemnation may come from many different channels as well, but mostly people are oppressed by their own sense of inability to live up to what God requires of them. On the surface, they believe that "God is no respecter of persons" but deep down they are saying "it's alright for God to use the apostles and others but not me.

We see here that the Prophet Isaiah had the very thing that we take for granted in our walk for us to gain intimacy with our Lord and Saviour. Spending time in prayer and in the word of God, but also taking our time to hear from the Holy Spirit. It is so important to obtaining the fullness of the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. We are promised strength beyond that what we can comprehend.

Lets deal with the question of condemnation this way.

(1Co 12:8) For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

(1Co 12:9) To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

(1Co 12:10) To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

(1Co 12:11) But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

(1Co 12:12) For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

We are all important to the service of the Spirit of God. We all have our place in the Ministering of the Holy Spirit. We must seek what the Holy Spirit has for us, what part of the body of Christ we take responsibility to operate in. When we practise the fruits of the Spirit we show Jesus in our lives, but also show ourselves our part of the Body of Christ.

Always remember to seek forgiveness for your sin, and most important that once you have repented you receive the Grace of God which is given freely. That is the purpose that Jesus gave his life as a perfect sacrifice, so we could receive perfect forgiveness fully paid for at Calvary. Let the Holy Spirit minister that forgiveness within. Seek to be doing God’s will and practising the fruits of the Spirit are the ideal way to do so.

Let's look at the Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit:

Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

There are two processes at work here.

1) He gives and we receive and He works through us to minister to others(the Gifting of the Spirit)
2) The other, He works in you, a much slower process where we're working out our salvation and we're getting more like Him by His righteousness and so on ( the Fruits of the Spirit ).
Please don't get them mixed up. One is for service of others (the Gifts) the other is like a rehaul of the spiritual engine, taking time, a becoming Christ like experience ( the Fruits of the Spirit ).

Once these Gifts and Fruits are given they are never withdrawn from us, (consider Romans 11:29) but they do need constant regulation. Condemnation will stop you from stepping out in the gifts of the Spirit. Constant communication with God and time spent in his presence, will recharge the "Level of Anointing", so to go about the Work of the Holy Spirit for Gods Glory.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Here we see that you do not have to be perfect to use the Gifts of the Spirit. These thought that prophecy and works of healing were enough to get them into Heaven. If lawless men can use them, how much more easily for you and I that desire to do the will of God?
By no means is this encouragement to go about sinning because the Gifts can still be used, but to say that the Gifts are exactly that, gifts given and never taken back.(Romans 11:29)
Don't be too hard on yourself. Self Condemnation is a tool of the devil to stop you ministering in the Gifts. Remember, God forgives and forgets.
Whenever you step out in ministry, examine yourself and seek forgiveness. Then when condemnation comes tell the devil the Word: I'm forgiven and cleansed. Get out of my way.

That concludes Part III, we will pick up next talking about "Feeling the Anointing". What it means and what we can do to connect with it.
